US Airport Rideshare Price Index

Updated July 2026

We ranked 20 major US airports by what a standard UberX or Lyft ride into the city actually costs per mile, using each airport's most popular destination. Short hops cost the most per mile because base fares, booking fees, and airport pickup surcharges get spread over fewer miles. Surge multiplies everything.

Methodology

Each airport is represented by its most popular destination route (usually downtown). Distances and drive times come from the Google Distance Matrix API. Estimates use our standard rideshare model: $2.50 base + $3.00 booking fee + $4.00 airport pickup surcharge + $1.40 per mile + $0.45 per minute, with a typical range up to 1.35x and surge modeled at 2x the high end. Cost per mile uses the midpoint of the typical range. These are estimates, not live quotes; actual fares vary with traffic and demand.
